چکیده

A high-resolution gas-phase spectrum of a molecular absorption band around 604 nm is assigned as due to an electronic transition of a nonlinear C6H4 1 planar species starting from its A9 electronic ground state. The spectrum is observed in direct absorption by cavity ringdown spectroscopy through a supersonic planar discharge through a mixture of acetylene in helium. The spectrum has a clear rotational and K-type structure. This allows an accurate determination of the B and C rotational constants and an estimate for the A rotational constant in ground and electronically excited states. The resolved spectrum of the fully deuterated species C6D4 1 has been obtained as well. The results are compared both to the outcome of ab initio geometry optimizations and low-resolution absorption spectra in 6 K neon matrices obtained after mass-selective deposition. © 2003 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1575736#

The electronic spectrum of the C(s)-C11H3 radical.

The electronic gas-phase absorption spectrum of the bent carbon-chain radical, HC(4)CHC(6)H with C(s) symmetry, is recorded in the 595 nm region by cavity ring-down spectroscopy through an expanding hydrogen plasma. An unambiguous spectroscopic identification becomes possible from a systematic deuterium labeling experiment. A comparison of the results with recently reported spectra of the nonli...

FTIR and Raman Spectroscopy of Carbon Nanoparticles in SiO2, ZnO and NiO Matrices

Coatings of carbon nanoparticles dispersed in SiO2, ZnO and NiO matrices on aluminium substrates have been fabricated by a sol–gel technique. Spectrophotometry was used to determine the solar absorptance and the thermal emittance of the composite coatings with a view to apply these as selective solar absorber surfaces in solar thermal collectors. Cross-sectional high resolution transmission ele...

Study of the desorption mechanism of alkylsiloxane self-assembled monolayers through isotopic labeling and high resolution electron energy-loss spectroscopy experiments

Recently it has been proposed that alkylsiloxane self-assembled monolayers on oxidized Si~100! decompose through C–C bond cleavage @G. J. Kluth, M. M. Sung, and R. Maboudian, Langmuir 13, 3775 ~1991!#. To verify this desorption picture, pentadecyltrichlorosilane precursors with four deuterated carbon atoms at the end of the molecule have been synthesized. High-resolution electron energy-loss sp...

A total variation diminishing high resolution scheme for nonlinear conservation laws

In this paper we propose a novel high resolution scheme for scalar nonlinear hyperbolic conservation laws. The aim of high resolution schemes is to provide at least second order accuracy in smooth regions and produce sharp solutions near the discontinuities. We prove that the proposed scheme that is derived by utilizing an appropriate flux limiter is nonlinear stable in the sense of total varia...
